This cause is very close to my heart because 27 years ago, my grandfather needed a heart valve replacement and the blood they gave him during the operation was HIV positive. In those days, AIDS wasn't really a medically classifiable decease, so they didn't screen for it when people gave blood. Twelve years ago, my grandfather died of a usually tame virus that attacked his brain because his immune system was so weak from AIDS. Even though I was only five years old, I remember very well the day he died, and also the memories we shared together. He is and will always be very important to me. So please, support the cause.
