Oscar-winning Edith Head talks costume design | Swank in the Arts
Famed motion picture costume designer Edith Head was interviewed for this August 1978 "Swank in the Arts." Working for Paramount and Universal Studios, Head defined THE classic Hollywood style. She won eight Oscars out of her 35 nominations for Best Costume Design and still holds the record for the most Academy Award wins by a woman. Head was the inspiration for the Edna Mode character in the animated Pixar film "The Incredibles."
