Huey Bell 212 und Bell 412 Waldbrand Bad Schandau

Sound of Bell 212 and Bell 412 aka Huey aka carpet beater: The Huey was used to fight the forest fire in Saxon Switzerland in Schmilka near Bad Schandau on the border to the Czech Republic. A total of over 10 helicopters were used, including two Hueys from Austria (https://www.heli-austria.at/). There were two different variants of refueling: In the first variant (Bell 212), a water tank attached to the helicopter by a rope is dipped into the river and thereby filled. The refueling process takes about 30 seconds. In the second variant (Bell 412), a flat water tank is mounted directly under the helicopter. This is filled with water from a pool using a suction hose. The refueling process takes 50 to 60 seconds - just under a minute. Because the Elbe was near the forest fire, the helicopters were back at their water filling station after about 6 or 7 minutes.
