Guitar Hero: Van Halen - “Hot For Teacher” X+ Drums 100% FC (943,559)

I’ve got a few things to cover here, so let’s get started. Firstly, I got a capture card! More specifically, I got an Elgato HD60 S (the same one Moose and Boddy have). I’ve put off getting one for soooooooo long but I finally decided that the happiness I would get from having it would outweigh the money spent purchasing it, and immediately I proved myself correct. The moment I watched my own gameplay back PROPERLY instead of recorded from a stupid phone camera pointed at my monitor just felt so good. Secondly, a huge thank you to Eric (damndeeznotes -    / damndeeznotes  ) for editing this video for me, I appreciate it a lot!! You will very probably realise that YES the FC and drum cam are not the same (drum cam was recorded after and I just played over the video lul don’t hate me). I had a lot of stuff lying around and so didn’t have anywhere to place my phone to capture my drums while I played, so I just recorded a run of me playing it afterwards. I’m sorry I didn’t get my reaction (there were very few words but much elation and happy faces), but my friends did capture some glorious photos of me afterwards as I was playing with my camera on in a voice call when I got it LOL. Thirdly, I FC’D HOT FOR TEACHER ON X+!!!!!! I dedicate 100% of this FC to Chris. It would never have happened if it weren’t for him, seriously. I conceded long ago that I was not FCing this, ever – it simply wasn’t something I could do. But then Chris came along, practiced hard, got the intro down, and FC’d the damn song. That provided a huge motivation boost of “wow, so it is possible…”, and then he so kindly helped me with checking videos of me playing it and gave me advice on tempos, stickings, and groupings for the intro and outro from his experience. However, possibly most importantly, his unwavering belief that I would get it really made me want to keep going when I just didn’t want to play it again. So, Chris, thank you very much :)))). Fourthly, this session was INSANE. It lasted 1.5 hours (total time spent on HFT probably ended up as like 6-8 hours), but it outshone my other sessions in every way. I had to have made it past the intro almost 20 times in this session (granted, I bombed three quarters of them immediately in the ride beat or the fill after the break LOL). Apart from those, I got two outro chokes and the FC. The FC followed 10 minutes after my 4th outro choke. I was feeling so good about the intro today that I actually was able to play the song without a break for the whole time (instead of playing in 15-minute bursts). I managed to hit the intro multiple times in a row (some twice in a row, once I got a three in a row). It was very nice to have a good session, especially in front of my friends. Fifthly, Fury of the Storm. The final song. It will happen. I believe now, with one song left, that I can do it. Your relentless comments about the FSFC might finally be sinking in after today. I just need to practice my double bass consistency a little more and then it WILL happen. I accept there will be more outro chokes, and that’s okay. I only need one run to the very end before it’s over. Lastly, the future! With the capture card, I would absolutely LOVE to go back through the whole series and re-do my FSFC (both X and X+), and upload videos of every FC (like Moose has done for guitar). I think this could be a very fun project, and I’m excited to possibly do it. Apart from that, I will also likely record some guitar FCs too if I choose to grind something new, and I also have some cool OMBFCs in mind hehe.
