LORENZO RAMÍREZ: Putin and Trump have already made a deal, Xi Jinping sets the pace for the US, and BBVA has failed Lorenzo Ramírez, an economic journalist, has warned that the escalation in Gaza is part of a deliberate strategy by Benjamin Netanyahu to perpetuate his hold on power. “Netanyahu needs the war to survive politically,” he states, noting that every Israeli military move is driven more by internal calculations than by security objectives. Ramírez maintains that the Israeli prime minister has actively sabotaged ceasefire attempts while allowing extremist groups linked to radical settlers to operate with impunity in the Gaza Strip. Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, Ramírez asserts that the White House is using President Zelensky as a puppet to prolong the war and maintain European military spending. “The war will end when Zelensky accepts the reality of the map,” he states, warning that Donald Trump is already preparing a negotiated solution with Vladimir Putin that would include holding elections in Ukraine and redrawing the borders. “Trump tore down Zelensky’s maps: ‘I’m fed up with maps,’” the analyst reveals, pointing to political fatigue in Washington regarding a conflict that no longer offers strategic benefits. On the economic front, Ramírez has been emphatic in his analysis of BBVA’s hostile takeover bid for Sabadell. “Torres failed in every aspect: political calculation, price, and allies,” he asserts, noting that neither the Spanish government nor major international funds supported the operation.
