Cape Town mountain fire results in evacuation of homes and student residences | Cape Town Fire
A raging mountain fire has caused hundreds of University of Cape Town students and residents in the surrounding neighbourhoods to be evacuated as Cape Town's fire and emergency services tried to contain the fire. The fire is believed to have started at a restaurant at Rhodes Memorial. As the fire jumped across the M3 highway it caused damage to private homes, university residences as well as the land claims centre in Mowbray.
