Ballad of Nefedel - Lotro Parody Song
The Ballad of Nefedel The Ballad of Nefedel is an original epic orchestral fantasy ballad inspired by one of the funniest differences in The Lord of the Rings Online starting experiences. While some new adventurers begin their journey following famous heroes and trying to stay out of trouble, High Elves are thrown directly into the War of the Last Alliance, fighting beside legends against the armies of Sauron. Naturally, one of them never lets anyone forget it. Presented as a grand heroic chronicle, the song recounts the impossible deeds of the legendary elf Nefedel with complete sincerity. Unfortunately for his companions, history seems strangely incapable of remembering their names, despite their constant presence at his side. The result is an increasingly ridiculous tale where every victory, prophecy, and artifact somehow belongs to Nefedel, while the dwarf and burglar are gradually reduced to footnotes that even the narrator can't keep straight. It's a loving parody of MMORPG protagonist syndrome, wildly uneven starting zones, and the friendly rivalry that comes from comparing beginning quests in The Lord of the Rings Online. Lyrics The Ballad of Nefedel Original epic orchestral fantasy ballad When starlight crowned the western sea, And kingdoms dreamed of what would be, There rose a lord of ancient line, Whose fate was writ before all time. The mountains echoed to his tread, The forgotten spoke among the dead. The winds recalled a hidden name... Nefedel! From Rivendell to Moria's stone, No road would see his steps alone. For at his side there marched with pride Brave Brondir. No... Bromdar, surely. A noble dwarf of proven worth. And also... A clever man. I... Believe his name was Cedric. Sing now of Nefedel, Air beneath the stars. Bearer of forgotten crowns, Keeper of the ancient scars. Though darkness stretched from vale to fell, Hope endured in Nefedel. And two companions, true and brave... Whose names escape us now. The Elven smiths, in secret halls, Answered long-forgotten calls. With silver flame and moonlit fire, They forged the relic all desire. A cloak no shadow could betray. A blade of long-forgotten days. A mount no mortal eye had seen. Meanwhile... Brondor? Received... A sturdy pair of gloves. And Cedward found A slightly nicer dagger. Yet neither voice nor heart complained. For such was destiny. Sing now of Nefedel, Chosen by the light. Every ancient prophecy Placed him in the fight. The Eagles knew his face by name. The Rangers did as well. The dwarf was... There. And someone else Who opened doors, I think. When blackened banners filled the sky, And hope itself prepared to die, One captain raised his ancient blade, And not a single heartbeat swayed. The hosts of darkness broke like rain. The White Tree blossomed once again. The songs remember every deed... Of Nefedel. Behind him fought Bragdur. No. Borgin. Something with a "B." The other fellow stabbed a troll... Or maybe picked a lock. Accounts differ. The wise have searched forgotten scrolls. The names are lost. The dwarf was valiant. Certainly. The burglar... Equally... Present. Some say he was called Charles. Others insist Edmund. One weathered manuscript records... "Jeff." Though scholars remain divided. Raise now the banners high above. Let every kingdom tell. Of ancient kings, Of brighter days, Of mighty Nefedel. The stars themselves bent low to see. The world was made anew. His horse was somehow cooler too. His armor glowed. His title shined. His weapon had Particle effects. His portrait looked Inexplicably better. And when the final pages close, When every age is done, The bards shall sing one final truth Of Middle-earth's great son. For every fellowship requires One hero fate compels. And standing somewhere just behind... A dwarf. A man. They were both Very supportive. ... I think.
