RARE SOLO... Round Midnight into Body & Soul - Oscar Peterson (Budapest, 1970)

Oscar Peterson Trio for the first time in Budapest, Hungary. Erkel Theatre, 1970 December 15. In 1970's Oscar was at the height of his musical prowess, he proved with this transcendent solo performance. Oscar studied with Paul de Marky, who was a hungarian concert pianist in the 19th-century tradition of Franz Liszt, who was also hungarian. Liszt's student was István Thomán a hungarian piano virtuoso and music educator. He was a notable piano teacher, with students including Béla Bartók, Ernő Dohnányi, and Paul de Marky... With this concert i think Peterson gave back a little bit of this hungarian musical heritage to the Budapest audience. And NHØP couldn't stop smiling... Probably OP and NHØP played together for the first time in this concert? Maybe...
