Were the Turks against the Mongols? Or were they allied with them? A very difficult question. It brings us back to the verbal "freak" - the Mongol-Tatars. After all, the Tatars are Turks, and the Mongols are Mongols. How did their confrontation or interaction unfold across the vast expanses from the Caspian to the Pacific Ocean at the beginning of the second millennium? By the eighth century, this vast swath of Eurasia was occupied by the Turkic Khaganate. And just 400 years later, the Mongol Empire had taken over. Practically the same territory. So where did the Turks go, and where, practically "at once," by historical standards, did so many Mongols come from to populate such vast spaces? And then there was India with its Mughal Empire. China with its Mongol dynasty. Almost all of Eurasia suddenly became "Mongol." Of course, the "secret" wasn't the Mongols' immense fertility, which allowed them to replace the indigenous populations of Eurasia. It was simply a custom in ancient times: conquered people were named after the clan or tribe of the conquerors. After all, even in the aforementioned Turkic Khaganate, not all of its inhabitants were Turkic. The Great Steppe was then a vast "melting pot of peoples." The more "wild Mongols" managed to unite hundreds of peoples under their rule. Accordingly, the elites of the conquered countries honorably considered themselves conquerors, even though, often, they didn't have a drop of Mongol blood. But why not just Mongols, but Mongol-Tatars? And who are these Tatars? Look, listen, think. --------------------------------------------------------- #Tatars #Mongol-Tatars #Genghis Khan #Asia #alternativehistory
