Avishai Darash - Kaleidoscope

I wrote this piece in the studio while we were recording the repertoire for The Planned Child. What began as a simple melody without much structure gradually evolved into a composition that captures youthful playfulness, as well as a sense of surrender and channeling. Personally, I don't believe in true "spur-of-the-moment" improvisation. Rather, I see it as a variation on themes we have already explored, or sounds and ideas we have previously heard or played internally. Although this may sound like an afterthought, I see it as a reflection of influences and musical ideas that have already crossed our path.
