INDONESIA and a CHILD's RIGHT to FAMILY

Recently I travelled to Indonesia for a holiday. The plan was just to travel and to leave my mission, to raise awareness that children belong in families and not in institutions (like orphanages), at home. But my mission did not leave me and went with me. I had several encounters regarding the topic and in this video, I will tell you all (to be honest just a glimpse ;-), about it. Welcome to my channel, my name is Monique Derrez, and I am on a mission to raise awareness that children belong in families and not in institutions like orphanages. Why? For many years I was a donor and volunteer supporting orphanages, thinking I was doing the right thing. But I learned that there is a better way of taking care of these vulnerable children: in FAMILIES. Did you know that 80% of all children living in an orphanage have at least one living parent or other family members who could take care of them give the right support? I didn’t, but now I do. And this, and more knowledge I am now sharing with others to create a positive change: away from institutional care towards a family-based care approach.
