The LOST shrine of Pulau Ubin | Rediscover Singapore |GIVEAWAY! |

We found a lost shrine! (Tanjong Tajam / Pulau Ubin) Located at the western tip of Pulau Ubin, Singapore, Tanjong Tajam temple was not very easily accessible. Pilgrims in the past are believed to take ferry from main island Singapore to either (i) the main jetty of Pulau Ubin (and take a land transport to the site); or (ii) directly to the Tanjong Tajam jetty. Two of the deities are Tua Pek Kong (God of Prosperity) and Guan Yin (Goddess of Mercy). There could be changes in the past, but the abovementioned two remain on site today. Reason for the closure of Tanjong Tajam temple is unknown. Wild guess: it could be due to (1) the structure being unsound and deteriorated over the years/didn't obtain necessary permits (TO BE VERIFIED); (2) the area is hazardous to bumboats/ferries due to the rocky nature of its landscape and surrounding; (3) insufficient pilgrims visit/donation/contributions, leading to financial loss and hence unable to maintain the temple's operation. p/s: I had old photos taken in June 1990 (shared by a generous viewer, "Tigerzbeer", thanks!!) at the old Tanjong Tajam temple. According to him, the Tua Pek Gong wasn't located at the same spot as the one shown in my video, there were huge lizards crawling around the deity statues. The temple allowed visitors to stay overnight, it was unmanned. The ferry ride from Punggol Jetty to Tanjong Tajam temple costs him and his friends $20 (per boat) back in 1990/1991. By comparison, the ferry ride to main jetty of Pulau Ubin costs about $1pax back then.
