Japan – Ultimate Guide to Greater Tokyo Pass

The Greater Tokyo Pass allows unlimited rides on Tokyo's subway system, private railway lines, and Toei buses. However, unlike an IC card, you cannot tap it at the gantry gates or insert into the gate like the Tokyo subway ticket. Instead, you must present the pass to the station staff located next to the gantry gate to gain entry.
