A fresh controversy has emerged over India's Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project after former Japanese minister Hideki Makihara alleged that delays were caused by an Indian Union Minister and officials involved in the negotiations. He claimed the Indian side prioritized its own interests over the project's timely implementation and deviated from Japan's Shinkansen model. India's Ministry of External Affairs has rejected the allegations, stating that they represent Makihara's personal views and do not reflect the ongoing cooperation between India and Japan. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said discussions on the high-speed rail project continue smoothly and confirmed that Japan is expected to provide the next-generation E10 series train in the early 2030s. Until then, both countries have agreed to begin operations with the current high-speed train system.
