www.bioztv.id - MSMEs in Karanganom Village, Durenan District, Trenggalek Regency, are starting to move away from conventional marketing methods. Through digital marketing training, these entrepreneurs, mostly housewives, are honing their digital product marketing skills to reach a wider market. "We want village mothers to be competitive and to become economically independent through their devices," said Akmalu Syauqy, Village Coordinator of the Karanganom State University Community Learning Program (UM BBM) at Malang State University, Friday (July 17, 2026). The UM BBM team at Malang State University designed the training so that participants learned more than just theory. Mentors directly encouraged participants to practice product photography techniques, develop promotional narratives for social media, and design digital marketing strategies to attract new consumers. "This training truly opened up new horizons for those of us who have been technologically illiterate," said Wiwin, one of the participants. Wiwin admitted that it was easier to understand the material because the mentors directly engaged them in practical activities. According to him, this method allows MSMEs who are not yet accustomed to using digital media to still effectively participate in the training. "We now know more modern sales methods. The mentors' explanations were very clear and easy for us to understand. Honestly, this has been very helpful for us, especially the mothers who are still learning technology," he said. Encouraging Local Products to Penetrate Wider Markets Akmalu explained that his team held the training to help MSMEs expand the market for local products. Until now, most businesses have relied solely on buyers from the surrounding village. "We want to expand the marketing of MSME products in Karanganom Village so that people outside the area will also be familiar with this village's superior products," he explained. The committee invited various elements of the village economy to the training. Family Welfare Movement (PKK) cadres, home business owners, and Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) managers all participated. Mentors Teach Branding and FYP Content Strategy In the main session, the mentors introduced digital marketing concepts and taught strategies for building brand identity to make products stand out on social media. The mentor team also guided participants in creating engaging promotional photos and videos and utilizing social media algorithms to expand their content reach. "We taught basic digital marketing techniques, branding strategies, and how to create video content that has the potential to appear on the FYP (Facebook Page) to expand the reach of MSME promotions," explained Akmalu. After receiving the material, the participants immediately put their knowledge into practice. They arranged products, took photos, recorded promotional videos, and then began developing digital marketing strategies for their respective businesses. UM BBM Team Prepares Direct Mentoring This empowerment program doesn't end after the training concludes. The UM BBM Team from Malang State University has developed a regular mentoring program to ensure MSMEs effectively implement the material they've learned. The mentoring team will visit MSME owners' homes to help them manage their business social media accounts and optimize their use of WhatsApp Business. "We are committed to mentoring them until they are truly capable of managing social media and WhatsApp Business professionally," Akmalu emphasized. In addition to mentoring MSMEs, the student team will also help the Karanganom Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) develop a digital marketing strategy for the village cafe business unit they are starting. Akmalu hopes that the training will not only increase sales of MSME products but also introduce the potential of Karanganom Village to the wider community. "If the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) and MSME products become better known, tourists will also come. As a result, Karanganom can develop into a more advanced and prosperous village," he concluded.
