My Kenwood Chef food mixer had stopped working, I suspected it was the motor brushes that had worn out as there was a lot of graphite coming out of the bottom of the machine. This video shows how to open the casing to remove the motor and replace the brushes. You need to remove the drive belt so it is also a guide for fitting a replacement drive belt. Warning - Only carry out repairs to an electrical appliance if you are confident that you know how to safely remove and fit electrical cables. Referring to the comment below about greasing the gearbox, there is a plastic push-in plug on the bottom of the gearbox casting where you can repack it without taking everything apart.
