He begins by tasting a super scrumptious Avarekalu Vada served piping hot, followed by a wholesome Avarebele Akki Rotti served with an saaru and crusty, Paddus. He then visits over 45 year old Guru Idlis to try their Mini Idlis. Rounding off the trail on a sweet note, he tastes two types of Holiges, a glass of nutritious Badam Milk and the super popular Gulcan Ice Cream. To help digest the 21-dishes he savours, he ends with a Fire Paan! GOURMET ON THE ROAD RATING SRI VASAVI VAISISTA THINDI AVAREKALU VADA this vada is every fried food lovers delight! made using a mixture of water hyacinth bean, dill, gram flour and aromats like onion, ginger, garlic, chilli and coriander this is as delicious and nutritious as a vada can get. in short, hot, crunchy and mouthwatering! (0.30 USD) 9/10 SRI VASAVI MANE THINDI AVEREBELE AKKI ROTTI this dish is a full meal. the akki roti has a crunchy crust and a soft inside. the gravy however, is quite tame. the avarekalu in the rotti makes for a tasty textural relief. Rs 40. (0.56 USD) 7.5/10 PADDU an enriched dosa batter that is cooked on a tava speckled with spherical cavities. it has a slight sour twang coupled with the crunch of the onions and freshness of the dill. delicious when eaten with coconut, chana dal and green chilli chutney. (0.30 USD) 8/10 SRI GURU DEV IDLI MANE MINI IDLIS porous, soft fluffy idlis. the chutneys however are a little watery. the green chutney with gram flour is diluted in flavours. the idli though is the hero of this dish! (0.15 USD) 8/10 IDLI MANE PLAIN OBBATTU a flaky, sweet paratha stuffed with lentil, cardamom and jaggery. the liberally slathered buttery ghee and that mild jaggery sweetness make this a delicious holige. Rs 20 (0.30 USD) 8.5/10 KAI OBBATTU much more weightier, this version of the obbattu has a rich, sticky, sweet coconut filling that lends a great bite to this obbattu. Rs 20 (0.30 USD) 8.5/10 MUMBAI BADAM MILK AND LASSI CENTER BADAM MILK a rich, thick and nourishing badam milk flavoured with pista, kesar and cardamom. the super thick cream on top tastes almost like khova. one can run a mile after drinking this! (0.40 USD) 9/10 SHIVANNA GULCAN ICE CREAM CENTER GULKAND ICE CREAM a crowd pleaser of a dessert here at vv puram. a mixture of gulkand or rose jam and butter topped butterscotch ice cream and mixture of fruits. the fruit helps cut through the sweetness of the ice cream and jam. (1.40 USD) 8/10 PAAN POINT FIRE PAAN this unique version of the popular digestive, paan left me speechless, quite literally! you can absurdly taste the fire for a fraction of a second, followed by the cool ice and a mish mash of flavours from all the components inside!
