It was held under the presidency of Princess Stéphanie of Monaco, who also presided over the jury for the awards. The 2018 edition was especially connected to the 250th anniversary of the modern circus, traditionally traced back to Philip Astley’s circus performances in London in 1768. The festival is one of the most prestigious events in the circus world, often compared to an awards ceremony for international circus arts.
