SemanticOps MCP Deep Dive: Power BI, Governance, Testing, and Pro Workflows (with Maxim Anatsko)

MCP tools make it possible for AI assistants to inspect, query, and change Power BI semantic models, but production use needs more than raw capability. In this stream, Maxim Anatsko will walk through SemanticOps MCP an AI-native bridge between language models and Power BI semantic models, and show how it helps users connect to models, explore metadata, run DAX, author changes, refresh data, and work through supported MCP clients. The session will also cover the Pro capabilities that move MCP from experimentation toward governed semantic model development: data masking, impact analysis, rollback and snapshots, unit testing, policy rules, preferences, RLS/OLS validation, and audit-oriented workflows. Along the way, Maxim will explain the thinking behind SemanticOps MCP’s harness: why AI needs guardrails, why testing is the missing link for semantic model work, and how governance can make AI-assisted BI development safer, repeatable, and practical. GUEST BIO (Maxim Anatsko) 👤 Max is an independent BI consultant specializing in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, with a focus on semantic model performance, correctness, and automation. He builds developer tools for the Power BI ecosystem, including SemanticOps MCP, TMDL Explorer, co-developed PBIR CLI, and created DAXBench to evaluate LLMs on DAX against real semantic models through execution rather than static examples. Much of his recent work explores AI-assisted and agent-driven workflows for BI development, with an emphasis on methods that can be measured rather than merely demoed.
