Broken Toe, Mud, & Cut-Offs: Surviving Mozart 100 by UTMB

The Mozart 100 by UTMB was supposed to be my dress rehearsal for UTMB. Instead, it became a battle for survival. With a broken toe (1.5 weeks pre-race), relentless rain, and a knee that gave out at 30km, this was easily one of the hardest days I've ever had on the trails. Set in beautiful Salzburg, Austria, the conditions turned the course into a slip-and-slide of mud and cow droppings. I spent the entire day chasing strict cut-off times—sometimes by minutes—while battling hypothermia and a failing headlamp. In the end, the weather got so bad the race was canceled at 98km... just as I arrived.
