According to reports, the Athagarh Excise Department, along with Banki Excise Police, Narasinghpur Excise Unit, District Mobile Unit, Sadar Excise Station, Khuntuni Police and Forest Department, conducted a coordinated raid in the Khanduali Reserved Forest. During the operation, authorities seized 3,080 litres of country liquor and destroyed around 21,875 litres of fermented wash used for illicit liquor production. The illegal distillation setup was found deep inside the forest, allegedly operated by liquor mafias. Officials stated that the accused managed to flee the spot before they could be apprehended. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to trace those involved in the illegal liquor network operating from forest areas. The crackdown highlights ongoing efforts by enforcement agencies to curb illicit liquor production and dismantle organised networks operating in remote forest zones.
