Dif Juz Live. London 17th and 18th Nov 1986. Console Recordings.
Dif Juz played three London shows in a row in November 1986 supporting Cocteau Twins. Two at the Town & Country Club, Kentish Town and the last at The National in Kilburn. The Kilburn show has already been posted on YT by astreetscene but the final tape I have of DJ shows, the Town + Country Club, has never been heard before. Because it's only 23 minutes long (the cassette ran out during the gig) and because it was the same set 3 nights running, I've compiled these two console recordings into one. If you just want to hear the last show (Kilburn) start listening at 23-17 minutes in. The first picture is of Dave Curtis and I can't remember where I took it. Somewhere in Europe in 1986 I think. Dave incidentally was writing a second album when the band broke up. I doubt we'll ever hear it. The second pic, accompanying the Kilburn show, is either Florence, Modena or Turin (or possibly Bologna) from the same tour. On turning up to the venue the band found out that it was a part time cinema showing the Werner Herzog visual classic, Fitzcarraldo. They quickly persuaded the venue to let them play with it as their backdrop making for a brilliant sensory night. Dave Curtis/Alan Curtis/Gary Bromley/Richard Thomas Dave and Alan: We miss you. Get in touch. Anyway enjoy!
