15 Meters From Thousands of Gannets - This is What I Found

I spent two unforgettable days exploring Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve in Newfoundland, one of the most spectacular seabird colonies in North America. Known for its dramatic cliffs, sweeping coastal landscapes, and the incredible Northern Gannet colony, this reserve is a paradise for both bird lovers and landscape photographers. Standing just 15 meters from the nesting site, I was able to witness thousands of gannets up close — their calls, their flight patterns, and the way they care for their young on the narrow cliff ledges. It’s a rare opportunity to photograph wildlife in such an intimate and natural setting without disturbing the birds. Beyond the gannets, Cape St. Mary’s offers stunning coastal views: rugged cliffs dropping into the Atlantic, rolling green hills, and a coastline that feels untouched by time. Over my two days there, I captured both the bird life and the sweeping seascapes that make this place so special. Join me as I share the challenges, techniques, and rewards of photographing in such a unique location. If you love landscape photography, wildlife, and the wild beauty of Newfoundland, this is a trip you won’t want to miss. #Newfoundland #LandscapePhotography #WildlifePhotography #Gannets #BirdPhotography #CapeStMarys #NewfoundlandAndLabrador #naturephotography 📸 Gear Used: • Fujifilm X-H2 • DJI Osmo Pocket 3 • DJI Flip • Viltrox 13mm f1.4 • Fujinon XF 56mm f1.2 • Fujinon XC 50-230mm f4.5 • Fujinon XF 16-50mm f3.5 • K&F Filters, Bags & Tripods
