GUINEA CONAKRY: The most beautiful place in Africa - FOUTA DJALLON

Crashs, waterfalls, and challenging roads: Welcome to the Fouta Djallon region in Guinea - one of my favorite places on this trip so far! Each country I ever visited I fell in love with – even if it was only for a short minute. But Guinea-Conakry made me fall in love each single second I stayed. Why? Because of its challenges. But also because of its breathtaking beauty, and its untouched nature. After crossing the border of Guinea-Bissau to Guinea-Conakry at the border post Fulamory, there was already the first surprise waiting: a hand-pulled ferry that brought us over the river. Little did we know that the real challenges were still waiting: A very bad, sandy road - which ended up in two crashs. The next days we headed torwards Labé, the capital of the region Fouta Djallon. The highlands of Fouta Djallon are often called the watertower - or in French: 'le chateau d'eau' , of West Africa. Sometimes people as well refer to the region as the 'Switzerland of West Africa'. We found out why on a excursion to Kambadaga waterfalls.
