Sly Park 2026 Part 1

Join us for our first camping trip of the 2026 season as we return to Sly Park in the Sierra Nevada foothills of California. With our Ford Model A temporarily sidelined for engine work, we take a different approach this time around—tent camping with some of the oldest equipment in our collection. This trip gave us the perfect opportunity to put nearly century-old camping gear back into service, including an original Fred E. Carnie Tent & Awning Co. tent from Sacramento and our favorite Sun Tent Luebbert, a company with roots stretching back to the Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915. Also making its camping debut after restoration is Nelson's remarkable 1933 Pullman camper trailer. Built in Redwood City, California, this rare survivor represents a little-known chapter in early trailer history, and there is growing evidence that it may even be a prototype. We'll explore that story in future videos, but for now we're taking a look at the craftsmanship and hard work that brought this trailer back to life. From period camping equipment and experimental archaeology to vintage trailers and the history of motor camping, this weekend was all about learning from the past by living it. #antiqueoverland #vintagecamping #motorcamping #campertrailer #vintagetrailer #historicalcamping #experimentalarchaeology #overlandinghistory #slypark #sierranevada #1933pullman #pullmantrailer #modela #fordmodela #vintageoutdoors #campinghistory #antiquecamping #vintagegear #californiahistory #automobilehistory
