Heineman/general phoneograph motor from Carryola portable not working.

This is a small, typical Heineman type motor from an early 1920s Carryola portable phonograph that has a spring issue it cranks and cranks and cranks and nothing happens. I'm opening up the motor to have a look and see what's going on with that spring and evaluate it for a channel viewer. This is a pretty standard type motor that was used in a lot of the offbrand US-made machines in the late teens right up through to the 1930s with the companies's name changing a few times along the way, but in the end they all stem from the Heineman company. carryola was one of the better known offbrand manufacturers in the early 20s of portable machines, they had several different types out all of them using Heineman parts and I'm not sure who manufactured the cases a lot of these companies didn't make any of their own parts. They simply assembled parts that were brought to them or have somebody else build the entire machine and they just put their name on it. We have a broken non-return spring as well but everything else looks OK just a little bit dirty. I know I mostly do Victor and HMV but these types of motors are so common out there that I know you're going to run into one sooner or later so I figured I would do a video on them. There will be another one having a good close-up look at the spring and all of that at a different time when I find a spring for it.
