The Fischertag in Memmingen, Germany 2025
Fischerstag, the traditional “Fishermen’s Day” celebrated in the German town of Memmingen, was first held in 1465. At that time, the event originated as a practical task to catch the fish from the Memminger Ach city canal before it was drained for cleaning. Over the years, this routine process turned into a festive tradition. The celebration now includes traditional costumes, fishing competitions, parades, and cultural performances. It has become an important part of Memmingen’s cultural heritage. Today, the event has been held for nearly 560 years and continues to attract both locals and tourists each year.
