"I Will" Yet "Not As I Will" (John 17:24 & Matthew 26:39) - Charles Spurgeon Sermon

A sermon delivered by C. H. Spurgeon, Lord's day evening, July 1st 1888. The will of God is a very deep subject. How exactly our will, and the will of God, entwine in prayer is a mystery. The two verses under consideration demonstrate this. Here we see the Lord Jesus pronouncing His will (in John 17) as our High Priest, on behalf of His people. In the second text we find Him submitting to His Father’s will (Matthew 26) as our Substitute. Spurgeon shows us some profound truths. Some of these themes are also considered in Spurgeon’s sermon on Delighting in God (   • Delight in God (Psalm 37:4) - Charles Spur...  ).
