Why Kali is black in color and why Kali is Adya Shakti. Kali is also wife of Shiv and Kali has 3 eyes. Dakshina Kali is the adya Shakti and Bhadrakali appears from Shiv. Kali is black in color for many reasons. Maa Kali is the first Mahavidya among the 10 Mahavidyas that emerged from the body of Mother Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva. There is a Katha that once Lord Shiva got angry with Mata Sati and started leaving from that place, then Mata Sati manifested herself in ten different forms in ten directions. These 10 forms of Kali is said to be very important in Tantric practice. The teacher of Swami Vivekananda was Ramkrishna Paramhans . Vivekanand guru Ramkrishna Paramhans was a great devotee of Kali. In Bengal Kali is the ultimate mother. In sanatan dharma Kali is the adya Shakti. In Hindu Dharma Kali is worshipped as mother of the universe. In Hinduism Shakta tradition believes that Kali is the ultimate destroyer of this universe.
