What is OSC? (Open Sound Control)

OSC is one of the greatest protocols for getting signals around your creative project! OSC stands for Open Sound Control, which is an open standard that defines how creative applications can communicate with one another. The OSC Message contains two different parts, the address and the data. The address in OSC is used to tell the receiving application what to do, and the data is the information it needs to do the action. In this video I use QLab to demonstrate the basics but also touch on other frameworks and applications. OSC is a transport independent protocol but usually is transmitted with either TCP or UDP on an IP network. We cover the basics of IP networking and an example of getting up and running with OSC.
