Jet Next Door: He Bought an L-39 Jet… Now He Has to Earn the Flight

A military jet showed up in the hangar next door at Lincoln Airport. This is Nate’s Aero L-39 Albatros, and while the airplane is obviously the attention-grabber, the real story is the pilot behind it. Nate is a longtime general aviation pilot who grew up around airplanes, flew everything from light sport to certified aircraft, and always had one aviation dream that never quite went away: he wanted to fly a jet. Now he owns one. But buying the L-39 was only the beginning. Nate is still working through the training, FAA authorization process, systems knowledge, and experience needed before he can fly it himself. For now, the dream lives on the ground through engine starts, taxi practice, high-speed taxi runs, and a whole lot of jet noise. In this video, we talk about why he chose the L-39, what it takes for a civilian pilot to step into the jet world, the role of training and mentorship, and what it feels like to own your dream airplane before you have earned the flight. This is not just a video about a cool jet. It is a story about aviation dreams, patience, discipline, and the long road from general aviation pilot to jet pilot. And yes, when Nate is ready to fly it, we hope to be back for part two.
