Actually, this may apply to learn any languages. These are the tips that I learned based on my experience on learning languages in past 14 years. Hi friends. I’m Sandy who can help you speak like native Koreans and welcome to HUHY COREANO. In this video, I will teach you 5 best ways to learn a language, Korean in this case! Let’s start! Write diary in Korean. I know you may be thinking “WHAT? How is it possible when I don’t even know how to write or I don’t even know any words?” No worries!! Just write anything that you know. I went to Canada when I was 12 years old. I didn’t know how to say anything except for “I’m hungry and I need to go to the bathroom” I seriously didn’t know a single word.. But, within 3 months, I was able to even listen to what other people were whispering! I improved my English super fast and one thing that I did was writing my diary in English. I didn’t know the alphabet enough and I didn’t know how to spell things. But, I kind of knew how to pronounce things based on what I heard. So, I started to write in Korean some English words and I looked up the dictionary every time when I wrote my diary. My goal was writing at least 1-2 words per day. This really did help me with my writing skills and learn English in general. I did the same to learn Spanish and that helped me to learn Spanish fast as well. Memorize 5-10 vocabularies per day. Memorizing vocabularies will help you A LOT to learn a language. You may be thinking 5 -10 words isn’t enough. Some people try to memorize like 100 or even 1,000 vocabularies within a day! I would say.. That’s kind of too difficult to do. Also, when you overwhelm yourself, you will get tired of learning a language faster. We all don’t want that, right? So, I recommend memorizing only 5-10 words per day. However, you have to make sure to practice it, which I will explain more on the next step. Practice thinking in Korean! At first, you can start from anywhere between 10-20 seconds to think in Korean. You may be thinking 10 seconds is super easy, right? But, it’s not as easy as you think. For some of you who can speak little bit of Korean, practice it for 30 seconds to one minute! During this seconds, you ONLY have to think in Korean. I tried this technique when I was learning Spanish and I was able to learn MUCH faster afterwards. At first, I couldn’t even do 10 seconds, but little by little I increased my time to 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, eventually 24 hours! Practice speaking Korean and record yourself when you do. Most foreigners are having a difficult time to learn Korean pronunciations correctly. I can understand. When I first tried to learn “rl” sound from English, such as, “world, girl” etc, it was SUPER hard that I even practiced when I showered! What about Spanish? “Rrr” sound was so difficult that I also practiced everyday to get better. In order for you to speak like native Korean, you will want to record yourself and listen to yourself if you are pronouncing right or not! But, how do you know whether you are pronouncing right or no? I will explain how to do it on my next step! You have to listen to native Koreans a lot! This is the final step. In order for you to speak like native Koreans and in order for you to know the correct pronunciation, there’s no trick to this. Just listen to native Koreans and copy their accent. I forgot my Spanish a lot but when I was in Spain, I copied everything what other Spanish speakers said to copy their accent. I did the same with English. My accent was just horrible when I first learned English. People didn’t understand my accent and they always said “WHAT?” because they didn’t understand me. I really didn’t like that! So, I practiced, practiced, and practiced from listening to other native speaker’s accents. I will make more videos that you can just listen to so that you can practice your Korean accent. Just wait for upcoming videos that will help you improve your listening skills! Thank you so much for watching this video. I really hoped that you learned something from this video. The question of the day: “Which steps of these 5 are you going to try first?” Write it in the comment below! Subscribe to my channel and like “like” button please. Thank you!
