Thai Trains & Railways: Old Hua Hin Railway Station - Thailand's Prettiest Station

#Thailand #train #huahin Old Hua Hin Railway Station opened in November 1911 when the Southern Line was extended further south towards Malaysia. Well located near the centre of the city, it's built in a style reminiscent of British Victorian stations and features a royal pavilion that was moved here from Sanam Chandra Palace in Nakhon Pathom and is often quoted as being Thailand's prettiest station. But for how much longer? A new station is being built just to the north of the old station which is part of the new double tracking of the line. It's also an elevated station like those you see on the BTS Skytrain in Bangkok. The difference between the old and the new is quite stark. However, they have painted the new station in similar colours plus have added some architectural styling that reflects the old station. But what will happen to the old station once the new elevated tracks and station are open? Who knows!
