Frank O. Gehry (November 7, 1979) Part 1 of 2
Fredrick Fisher introduces Frank O. Gehry, after announcements by Thom Mayne and Patricia Ford. Gehry outlines some of his larger projects. He explores his fascination with chain link fence in the signage for Santa Monica Place with Craig Hodgetts. Gehry describes his interest in rough construction as a unique and appealing design element. Gehry goes into detail about the modifications he made to his Santa Monica house. He tries to blur the line between the indoors and outdoors and connect his house to the street in a meaningful way. Gehry also incorporated non-traditional construction methodologies, such as exposing studs, and use of chain link fence as a building material. Gehry outlines his design ideas for the Loyola Law School building.
