Molukse straatnamen voor wijk Wierden

For decades, many Moluccans lived on Jan Jansweg in Wierden. This quintessentially Dutch street name will now partially disappear from the Moluccan neighborhood in Wierden and will be called Martha C. Tiahahustraat. Several branches of Jan Jansweg—where primarily Moluccans have lived for decades—will now be named Pattimurastraat and Chris Soumokilstraat. These are names for Moluccan freedom fighters. The municipality of Wierden is thus fulfilling a long-held wish of the large Moluccan community in this village in Twente.
