The turning point of the Aranya Kandam unfolds in this gripping ninth episode of Ramayana. After being humiliated at Panchavati, Shoorpanakha reaches Lanka and incites Ravana by describing the extraordinary beauty of Sita. Consumed by pride and desire, Ravana visits Mareecha and reveals his sinister plan—to lure Rama away by transforming Mareecha into a dazzling golden deer. As expected, Sita is captivated by the enchanting deer, and Rama sets out to capture it, leaving Lakshmana behind to guard her. Before departing, Lakshmana draws the sacred Lakshmana Rekha, warning Sita never to cross it. Disguised as a wandering ascetic, Ravana arrives at the hermitage and tricks Sita into stepping beyond the protective line. In an instant, he reveals his true form and abducts her in the Pushpaka Vimana. Hearing Sita's desperate cries, the mighty Jatayu courageously confronts Ravana in the sky. Though he fights valiantly, Jatayu is mortally wounded while trying to rescue her. Returning to the empty hermitage, Rama and Lakshmana search frantically through the forest until they discover the dying Jatayu. With his final breath, the noble bird reveals that Ravana has taken Sita to Lanka, setting the stage for Rama's greatest quest.
