Technique Tuesday: Breath Month - Appoggio
Technique Tuesday: Appoggio/Leaning forward onto the diaphragm This explores even further not just the “alien baby” action of the diaphragm staying descended but also checks in with what the rest of the core is doing. Notice the low core - those muscles just above the pubic bone and below the belt line - are actively engaged (though not gripped). This supports the lean which extends the expansion of the rib cage AND our air reserves. Playing with keeping your weight in your heels will stop you from wanting to arch the lower back to feel the lean in the front of the body. What do you notice?
