Sespe Hot Springs - over 8 hours with the springs to myself!

Yesterday I did a trip to the Sespe Hot Springs along the Johnston Ridge Trail. These hot springs are located in the Los Padres National Forest where hot water flows along a creek. The water stays hot for about half a mile to a mile and there are many hot pools present along this stretch of the creek. I was thinking about doing a video like this along the Sespe River Trail or the Alder Creek Trail (which are longer), but I wanted to maximize the time I could allocated to being at the hot spring. I visited many of the hot pools, soaked in the ones that were's too hot, and successfully hardboiled some eggs (cooking them for about five and a half hours at the source). I also found a herd of bighorn sheep. I've wanted to see these sheep in the past, but on previous excursions to the springs, I've only spent thirty minutes to an hour in the area since I was doing day trips along the Sespe River Trail, which amounts to ~32-34 miles round trip. I know that they are easy to spot here, so figured that I'd have to stay for longer to actually see them. The didn't wander next to the spring, but I did see them higher up in the canyon. One of the highlights of this trip was the pool below the hot waterfall. Other times I've been here, there were a bunch of backpackers and many of these neat areas were in use. I chose a particularly cool day in August (2024) to visit. The weather was nice and cool and I had the entire hot spring area to myself for over eight hours. It was a Blast! These are many pools in the hot creek or hot river to soak in (even when there are more people), but this really was a treat. While I love having areas to myself at times, I do enjoy seeing people making use of these spots and enjoying the great outdoors. The way I go about sharing locations is that if someone tells me to keep a spot secret before I wind up finding it on my own, I keep those spots secret. Otherwise, I share information at my own discretion because I like sharing what I find. I may take things down, obscure locations, or remove data upon request as I have done in the past, but a lot of the places I visit are less well known (because I'm exploring), so I could potentially be removing everything if I did things the other way around, which I don't want to do. I change my mind about what I keep secret on my own, but if we talk, I am much less likely to jeopardize my integrity than change my mind. There are a few secrets I don't share with people because I agree to keep these spots on the down low (even when I have heard about them through different parties before visiting).
