Geleneksel ahırdan modern işletmeye uzanan başarı: Yılda 400 kuzu, 7 ton tulum peyniri üretiyor
Adem Şimşek, who has been raising small livestock using traditional methods in Erzincan for many years, is contributing to the city's meat and tulum cheese production by increasing his production in the modern facility he established with 50% grant support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Benefiting from grant support in 2024 under the Rural Development Investment Support Program conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Şimşek established a modern small livestock facility in the Kargın town of Tercan district with an investment of approximately 8 million Turkish Lira. In his facility, which he established with 50% grant support and has a capacity of approximately 1000 small livestock animals, Şimşek raises lambs as well as produces geographically marked Erzincan tulum cheese. Previously raising small livestock using traditional methods, Şimşek increased his production capacity and improved the care conditions of the animals thanks to the modern facility. - "We slaughter an average of 300-400 lambs annually." Adem Şimşek said that he has been involved in livestock farming since a young age. Şimşek, who stated that he continued his profession with the support he received from the state in 2024, said: "Our state gave us great support, we made a good investment. We thank our state very much for that. We received support of around 3 million 650 thousand lira. At the same time, we produce Erzincan tulum cheese. We slaughter lambs here. We do all kinds of activities related to small livestock. This is our source of livelihood. We slaughter an average of 300-400 lambs annually and produce about 6-7 tons of tulum cheese." Speaking about his situation before the support, Şimşek said, "Before building this, we were still doing small livestock farming, but because we were doing it in primitive, traditional barns, our yield was very low. Now, with this modern barn we have built, both our production has increased and our well-being has improved. We used to get much more tired before. I recommend everyone to open such businesses. Our state supports us in every way." "Our priority is to ensure food supply security in the sector" Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Alper Koçaker explained that the facility has 500 sheep and 400 lambs being fattened for slaughter. Koçaker stated that Şimşek had previously practiced nomadic livestock farming in pastures with his family and established the business by benefiting from the grant support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and added: "As the Ministry, our priority is to ensure food supply security in the sector. For this, we prioritize the sustainability of our businesses. Therefore, we are trying to strengthen our business infrastructures with such modern facilities in both animal and plant production and to increase our production capacity day by day. We have started to see the most concrete example of this in small ruminants in Erzincan province this year." Koçaker emphasized the importance of small ruminant farming and pasture management for the city, stating, "Erzincan tulum cheese, which has received a geographical indication from the European Union, has started to be produced in our various highlands as of the season. However, small ruminant farming is a very valuable sector not only in terms of tulum cheese but also in terms of meat production. Therefore, we continue to support investments and investors in that area as well." Koçaker noted that they are seeing the tangible results of state support in the field, saying, "After establishing these facilities, our small ruminant population, which was around 610,000, has now reached approximately 773,000. Hopefully, our goal is to increase our livestock population to over 1 million within a few years."
