Ride from GCT-Poughkeepsie on Metro North’s inaugural train with the Siemens SC42 Charger. 9/22/25

This was an exciting day in the history of Metro North. We ride the very first revenue train #825 from GCT to Poughkeepsie powered by the new Siemens SC-42 Charger. We begin with speeches by MTA Chairman Janno Lieber and MN President Justin Vonashek. We then show the power and the official assemblage riding this special train. Lots of electricity was felt, no pun intended. The engine performed flawlessly from my perspective aside from some electric arc bucking in Electric mode but it ran fast in both electric and diesel mode. Lots of enthusiasm upon arrival in Poughkeepsie. These Chargers will really “jazz” up Metro North.
