The Sognefjellet Scenic Route (Road 55) runs from Lom to Gaupne through Sognefjellet, a mountain area that has the highest mountain pass (1,434 metres / 4,705 ft) in Northern Europe. This drive takes you from Vågåvatn, a beautiful lake located east of Lom, to Fantesteinen, the highest point of Sognefjellet, and then down to Skjolden, a village situated at the end of Lustrafjorden, a branch fjord of Sognefjord, the longest fjord in Norway.
