Explore the Death Railway in Myanmar, from Phayatonsu to its terminus in Tanbu Sayat. After the Japanese surrendered to the Allied forces and the war ended, the Death Railway was abandoned. Locals recount that the rails were dismantled and reused for shovels and electric poles, leaving no trace of the tracks. All that remains is the oral tradition that Highway 78 was the original route of the Death Railway. Furthermore, aerial views of the Kyaung Thong waterfall (known as "Kyaung Thong" in Mon) reveal that the Japanese army constructed a concrete dike around the waterfall to redirect the water flow towards the Kyaung Thong water filling station. At the end of the line in Tanbu Sayat, new railway tracks have been laid at the starting point of the Death Railway, and a museum has been built to promote tourism.
