This great family is led by Lord Francis Umelo Ihekwaba, OFR, former Mayor of Port Harcourt, alongside his brothers, including Nze Hon. John Ihekwaba, Oshimiri 1 of Nkwerre. Before the Biafra War, the Ihekwaba family made remarkable wealth through trading and built one of the most powerful and beautiful castles of that era. Their legacy stands today as a symbol of vision, hard work, and excellence. The Ihekwaba family remains one of the biggest and most successful families in Imo State.
