Balie’s Gat | Not your ordinary campsite

We headed to Balie's Gat in the #cederberg #mountains to find the #sunshine after a brutally long, cold and wet winter in #capetown #southafrica ‪@baliesgat9811‬ is situated in the Koue Bokkeveld on the R303. +/- 47km from Citrusdal and +/- 82km from Ceres. The campsite can only be reached with a good high ground clearance vehicle. Buster our #renaultduster handled the #terrain very well and after a gnarly descend down the side of the mountain we reached the stunning, remote valley deep in #nature The perfect place to recharge your #body #soul and #mind We setup #camp at Balieskamp1 which is neat, shaded and has a braai area and a dishwashing stand with a bucket and drying rack, as well as it's own ablution facility. We were surrounded by beautiful #mountainviews with great rock formations for #rockclimbing and #bouldering For those who love #hiking #trailrunning and #mountainbiking there are many paths and trails. We also saw #bushman #paintings on the rocks at the Boesmanklip campsite which accommodates a larger group of people. The following day we hiked 2.5km up the #kloof to a spectacular #waterfall and enjoyed the #sunshine #swiming in the #rockpool and had a cheeky nap on the rocks. Amidst the tranquil embrace of #nature you’ll find ample space to create beautiful memories with your loved ones, whether it’s #family or #friends We highly recommend Balie's Gat and will return to explore the area some more hopefully soon. Thank you ‪@baliesgat9811‬ for having us! On the Sunday morning we packed up our #tent and took a leisurely drive through #Veldrif where we saw hundreds of magnificent #flamingos in the vlei. We carried on driving on the R27 and decided to have a quick stop at the ‪@sanparks‬ #westcoast #nationalpark to see all the #flowers in bloom. The West Coast National Park lies 88 km north of Cape Town in the #westerncape province of #southafrica The park is found inside of the Cape West Coast Biosphere Reserve, part of the #unesco Man and the #biosphere Programme. The entry fee was R110 per person for South African Nationals and R247 for International Citizens during the flower season. The park is particularly well known for its #birdlife and for the #spring #flowers which occur in the months from August to September, especially in the Postberg flower reserve section of the park. We had a quick stop at Kraalbaai which is located in the reserve on the #langebaan #lagoon It is absolutely beautiful with turquoise blue water and white beaches for miles. There are many fun #adventure #activities one can do at the reserve including #kayak #standuppaddle #fishing #hiking and #mtb There are also the Kraalbaai Lifestyle Boats that you can rent.
