The stabilization of the Budapester Straße bridge in Dresden is proceeding at full speed, as more prestressing steel wires have snapped since the closure, and the bridge's condition has deteriorated. To stabilize the bridge, four heavy-duty steel supports are being erected. These are scheduled for completion by the end of July 2026, allowing the underpass on Ammonstraße to reopen with two lanes in each direction. By September 2026, additional supports will be installed to reopen one lane in each direction on the bridge itself. Simultaneously, structural investigations are underway to ensure the bridge can be preserved for at least another ten years and to plan a replacement structure during this time.
