Video: Additional photos by Huey Photography. Instagram: @hueyphoto Lessons learned while trekking with Above + Beyond Cancer and 21 cancer survivors and caregivers. Our trek was under the constant skilled-guidance of a team of Sherpas and porters from Asian-Trekking on the Annapurna Trail. The group reached Thorong Pass together reaching 17,769 feet. My trip to Nepal was made possible by the legacy of Justin Anderson, the first director of Above + Beyond Cancer. He passed away in 2022. Justin raised the spirits of those around him and was one of the kindest people you would ever meet. He guided the organization in its early years and took part in the original Transformational Journey to Mt. Everest Base Camp in 2011 among many other journeys. Justin could be found strumming his guitar around the campfire, leading the team in singing and fellowship as well as singing to patients no matter where we were. Justin was the epitome of the mind, body, spirit approach professed so often by Above + Beyond Cancer. To honor Justin and his legacy, the Justin Anderson Music Rocks Scholarship was created to keep shining his light throughout the work of Above + Beyond Cancer. Thank you Justin.
