We Tried the Craziest Border Crossing in Europe

We partnered with ‪@MatterhornParadiseZermatt‬ to experience the highest viewing platform and border crossing in Europe, operating at nearly 3,900 meters above sea level. The Matterhorn Alpine Crossing connects Switzerland directly to Italy over a glacier, and we wanted to see what it takes to build a $150 million project in these extreme conditions. To secure the foundation, crews had to dig 25 meters down into solid permafrost. Markus took us inside the facility to show us the mechanics keeping this massive cable car moving. He explained the exact safety and backup procedures that activate if the grid fails while cabins are suspended 170 meters in the air over the Alps.
