Download the latest FREE EBOOK here! https://gum.co/u/sa4ft8bm Welcome to "Meet The First Monkeys in SPACE! Able and Baker!" In this video, we'll be taking a look at the incredible story of Able and Baker, two rhesus macaque monkeys who made history when they became the first primates to be sent into space. On May 28, 1959, Able and Baker were launched aboard a Jupiter AM-8 rocket as part of a mission called Project Mercury-Redstone BD. The launch was a success, and the monkeys successfully completed their 16-minute suborbital flight, reaching an altitude of 300 miles before returning to Earth. Able and Baker's flight was a major milestone in the history of space exploration, paving the way for future manned spaceflights. The monkeys were hailed as heroes and were celebrated as symbols of American scientific achievement. Unfortunately, Able died just a few months after her spaceflight due to complications from surgery. Baker, on the other hand, lived to the ripe old age of 27, making her the oldest living monkey at the time of her death in 1984. Today, Able and Baker are remembered as pioneering figures in the field of space exploration and as important contributors to the advancement of science and technology.
