How To Install Fenders On A Bike | Honjo Fenders | Giant Contend AR

In this video, I install fenders on my bike for the first time. I install some Rene Herse (Honjo) metal fenders on my Giant Contend AR. A few things I learned in this process is that installing fenders is not always perfect because you are retrofitting them to a frame that may not be made for those specific fenders. The Rene Herse fenders are some of the best you can buy but you still have to drill holes to get the fenders to fit your bike perfectly. After speaking with a good buddy of mine who is more knowledgeable about fenders than I am, said the Honjos are the best fenders you can buy because they have the best coverage, lighter weight, stay in place, and can be custom made for your bike. He said the next brand he would go with is Velo Orange. They also have metal fenders but have holes pre-drilled that may or may not work with your frame. He said the plastic is the least desirable due to weight, flimsiness, and doesn't have a curl on the edge to trap water within the fender like the metal fenders. If you really want to keep the spray down to near zero, then you can take an old flap of rubber or some other material and attach it to the bottom of the fenders to prevent spray from coming out of the bottom of the fenders and tires and kicking up on your feet or friends behind you. You can attach them in several different ways, such as a basic nut and bolt like I did with the holes for the fender mount.
