Under my articles about Zhorik, the disabled dog, I often encountered unkind comments from skeptics, like, "Nobody needs dogs like him, there's no point in saving them, much less trying to find a home for them—they won't be adopted." One woman even called at night, insisting on euthanasia and threatening to create negative publicity for the channel if we continued "his suffering." But many people supported us, helped us, and believed with us that there's always sunshine behind the clouds and that a brighter streak will surely come in this wonderful dog's life. After all, we always fight for animals until victory, even if the case is considered hopeless. As a reminder, Zhorik was shot in the spine this winter, and his hind legs became paralyzed. Bleeding profusely, the poor little dog crawled into the courtyard of a high-rise building for help. We were given no chance of bringing him back to a normal life; we considered euthanizing him, but we decided he would live! Against all odds. And they transported the poor, disabled dog from Kursk to the Moscow region. After lengthy treatment at the Pulse veterinary clinic in Ramenskoye, small miracles began to happen. One day, a friend of our channel, who had been visiting and helping Zhorik throughout his stay, called me via video call and showed me Zhorik's paws: "Inna, look, they're starting to twitch!" And that was a very good sign! Zhorik's predecessor, the disabled dog Black, also started wiggling his paws shortly before he could climb, although there was no chance for him either. I started looking for a home for Zhorik, not really hoping for a miracle, but then a very personable and kind man from the Moscow region called. He said he had already lived with a disabled dog, whom he literally carried on his back, and he wanted to make Zhorik happy now. Especially since he works from home, the dog won't have to suffer from his owner's prolonged absence, as a disabled animal requires special care. A couple of days later, he arrived at the clinic to meet him. The more Alexander spent time with the furry creature, the more he realized he wanted to give the poor thing a new life. He sat with Zhorik on the floor for several hours. At first, the dog eyed him suspiciously, constantly glancing at Olya, whom by that point he already considered his own mother. But she reassured him, "Don't be afraid, Zhorik, it's Daddy," and he listened as if understanding what she meant. Alexander began visiting Zhorik as if he were his own family, and each time he left the clinic with a heavy heart. One day, he said, "I can't wait to take him home, he's mine." The only thing that worried him was the reaction of the other furry residents of the house, as there were three other dogs and a bunch of cats. Would they accept Zhorik? Moreover, two of the puppies were boys. And this is what came of it. On the day of his discharge, Olya loaded Zhorik into a zoo taxi and took him to his new life. The little dog looked out the window and smiled, because his happiness was so close! They greeted him like a son with a set table! Alexander's dogs and cats flocked to see who had arrived, but none of them even growled or hissed. They wagged their tails and were eager to get to know each other better. Now Zhorik lives in a large country house, where she even has her own room with a mattress by the fireplace. There, she and Alexander sleep cuddled together. This is so Zhorik doesn't worry about his new surroundings. I admire Alexander's actions. Taking in a homeless dog is an act of kindness, but taking in a disabled animal is practically a heroic deed. And only a few are capable of fighting for the health of a special animal, knowing that many difficulties lie ahead. The furry residents fully supported their owner in his noble endeavor – almost all of them moved into Zhorik's room, treating him with compassion and understanding. The cats keep watch in Zhorik's "bedroom" almost around the clock, and the dogs play with him and fall asleep next to his mattress. Zhorik is no longer afraid of his owner and greets him with joyful squeaks. With the arrival of summer, Alexander and Zhorik swim in their own pool, exercising their legs. And recently, another miracle occurred – Zhorik began to rise on his hind legs. I never cease to be amazed at the warmth emanating from all the residents of this house. Zhorik has not only found a roof over his head, friends, and the best owner; he has found himself in a real fairy tale!
